Hospital staff are urging Kiwis to restrain themselves this holiday season, as their wards continue to fill up with people over-indulging on alcohol.
Festive spirits of the wrong kind have resulted in many burns, cuts and other injuries, all attributed to people drinking far more than what's appropriate.
Dr Paul Quigley from the Wellington Hospital emergency department says the impact of glorious summer weather can creep up on people who are drinking.
Dr Quigley says if people are drinking, they should stick to a limit of six standard drinks at the most and remember to drink plenty of water.
