Record breaking temperatures in Chicago could be partly to blame for an upsurge in violent crime in the city.

Just last night there were 22 shootings - five of them fatal.

That brings the total of homicides in the city so far this year to 272.

And with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees experts expect the crime wave to continue.
