Hotel owner offers 18 months free rent

An eight-room hotel in Bluff is up tenancy with an enticing offer to sweeten the deal: Eighteen months free rent.
It sounds too good to be true, but Dunedin real estate company owner Lincoln Darling is desperate to get the main street Bay View Hotel running again, the Otago Daily Times has reported.
One of only two hotels in the town, it has a restaurant and two bars to go with its eight bedrooms, along with a manager’s flat.
Mr Darling said it had been closed for more than six months after the couple who ran it hit marital and financial difficulties.
“Originally, it was a very good business, but now the place is a bit run down,” he said.
The new tenant would be expected to pay overheads, but otherwise the business would go without rent over the initial period.
“That is the deal. Nothing’s too good to be true."
