ROWING - Men's pair HAMISH BOND and ERIC MURRAY dominate their final to win gold; single sculler MAHE DRYSDALE gets over his Beijing disappointment in the best way by adding a second gold 40 minutes later; women's doubles scullers FI PATERSON and ANNA REYMER are fifth in their final.

CYCLING - The men's team pursuit SAM BEWLEY, AARON GATE, MARC RYAN and JESSE SERGENT win bronze after beating Russia in a ride-off.

SWIMMING - LAUREN BOYLE smashes her national record in the 800m freestyle to finish fourth in the final; the men's 4x100m medley relay team of GARETH KEAN, GLENN SNYDERS, ANDREW MCMILLAN and CARL O'DONNELL just miss out on making the final; HAYLEY PALMER is 23rd in the heats of the 50m freestyle.

SAILING - 470 women's crew of JO ALEH and OLIVIA POWRIE are second after the first day of racing; men's 470 crew PAUL SNOW-HANSEN and JASON SAUNDERS drop to eighth after they were belatedly disqualified from race one; 49er pair PETER BURLING and BLAIR TUKE make up ground to lie second overall; DAN SLATER drops another place to ninth; HAMISH PEPPER and JIM TURNER in the Star drop a place to be 10th after 10 races; Laser Radial sailor SARA WINTHER produces her best results of the regatta to improve to 21st.

WEIGHTLIFTING - Men's 85kg lifter RICHIE PATTERSON manages 150kg in the snatch and 186kg in the clean and jerk to finish 14th.

SHOOTING - RYAN TAYLOR shoots 592 points in the 50m rifle prone, to finish 25th.

SOCCER - The FOOTBALL FERNS exit the Olympics, beaten 2-0 by defending champions USA in their quarter-final at Newcastle.

HOCKEY - SIMON CHILD scores early for the men's Black Sticks against Netherlands but the Dutch rally to beat them 5-1 and almost certainly mean they will miss out on the semi-finals.

ATHLETICS - NICK WILLIS wins his heat to ease in the 1500m heats; Heptathlete SARAH COWLEY is in 30th place after four events.
