I'm in absolute agreement with the other comments published here - it shows a complete lack of integrity by Campbell Live to promote a brand that embraces cruelty in its egg production. The fact that younger hens produce better quality eggs should come as no surprise. As Mel has already pointed out, the younger chickens simply haven't been exposed to the inhumane conditions of a battery farm for as long - to say that they produce special "poaching eggs" is ridiculous.

I was also extremely disappointed that Campbell Live chose farmer brown eggs for the poached egg experiment. The cruelty battery farm hens endure is inexcusable. As for taste, a free range egg wins every time, unless you like the bland rubbery taste of battery farmed eggs!! I just cooked myself 2 size 7 free range poached eggs this morning using the method shown and they were amazing... the whites cooked perfectly =P Maybe the supposed perfect quality of the farmer brown poacher eggs is more of an indication that the hens used are indeed very young... in other words... they haven't lived long enough in the dreadful conditions they are kept in, so the quality of the eggs they produce hasn't been effected yet!!

Im SO upset that this was aired AT ALL, how about you promote eggs from free range farmers that are making a huge effort to protect and look after their animals? I actually quite liked Campbell live but now I won't have a bar of it, way to go John for showing NZ how to promote suffering by buying thses cruelly made eggs

I agree with Chris and Aaron - it is very disappointing to see Campall live promoting this cruelty. I would like to see the show addressing the cruelty in this industry and the health problems it's causing if they wish me to continue viewing.

It’s hard for caring people to fathom why Campbell Live would give 35 seconds of prime time viewing to promote the eggs of a battery hen farmer. It even showed the packaging so that viewers will know exactly which cruelly produced eggs to choose. We are surprised the bacon on the plate wasn’t also labelled with the name of a factory pig farm. Campbell Live –you now have egg on your face and the fate of tortured hens on your conscience.

Id like to see a follow up story about how these eggs were produced.A tour through a battery farm perhaps? The smell alone will put you off eating eggs. Why are you giving free promotion to a company that makes its money through caged cruelty?

I'm with you, Chris. Shame on you Campbell Live for promoting cage eggs and contributing to the enduring suffering of battery hens.

Wow show us how brainless you are, how insensitive to animal cruelty and how much you support brands the house animals in cruel and unethical conditions. Are you deliberately being callous and shallow, or is it how you are naturally? The animal welfare act is not effective nor upheld, and here you celebrate those who commit it on grand scales. I'm astounded at your stupidity, no really, you've taken it to a whole new level. Be proud. 1 less viewer from here on in. Absolutely disgraceful!.

I was disgusted to see promotion of battery hen farmers on your show tonight. Such blatant approval of animal abuse means I'll no longer be tuning into Campbell Live.
