Halloween came a week early for some furry creatures in Manila.
Pets wore costumes ranging from adorable fairies to scary grim reapers during a costume show organised by an animal welfare group.
Some owners even joined their doggy companions and dressed up in the same costumes.
Anna Cabrera, Executive Director of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), said events like the Halloween dog show help to promote proper pet handling.
"It's actually an entry point for them to learn more serious issues about animal welfare. It leads us to tell them more about responsible pet ownership, and they tend to care for their pets more when they are exposed to events like this," she said.
An increase in animal abuse cases in the recent months, with various videos and photos of animal cruelty being uploaded onto video sharing websites, has prompted local government and animal welfare groups crack down on abusers.
