The streets of the Italian capital have been a little less dangerous and infinitely more interesting. They've been thrown into a time warp, with hundreds dressing up to celebrate the founding of Rome.

They came from all over Europe to take part in their best legionnaires kit, gladiator gears and of course togas.

And make no mistake, the event is not some fancy dress parade. Those taking part say they try to make the experience as authentic as possible.
