2,100 properties in the Port Hills are still waiting to be assessed

The demolition of red-zoned residential homes has begun in Christchurch, but hundreds of homes remain in limbo.

653 properties are still in the orange-zone, the owners do not know if they can stay or if they will have to move.

There are also 2,100 properties in the Port Hills still waiting to be assessed and they will remain in the white zone until then.

181,000 homes have been zoned green, meaning they can be fixed up and the land they are on is considered safe.
