Reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin offended fans with their Aboriginal-themed outfits

Russia’s ice skating champions have offended some of their fans, by wearing Australian Aboriginal-themed costumes at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

After being criticised, reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin toned down their outfits – making their bodysuits more beige than brown, and removing some of the white markings on their legs and arms.

But their appearance on the ice still drew some disapproval, and apparently didn’t help win the judges over – the pair had slipped back into third place before the finals.
