Telecom, 2degrees and Orcon have more in common than just being telecommunication companies. They have all enlisted the help of famous faces to make their products seem that little bit hipper.

2degrees has got Rhys Darby, Telecom went with Richard Hammond – and now Orcon have enlisted the services of punk legend, Iggy Pop.

The 62-year-old is the latest face to make a phone and internet company look cool.

Hopefully this campaign, which involves Kiwis rerecording an Iggy Pop track over via the web, goes better than his last one for a car insurance agency.

The ad was axed after it was pointed out Swiftcover doesn't actually provide car insurance for musicians and entertainers.

Ouch.
