A Kiwi telecommunications company has managed to swing itself an unlikely alliance with the godfather of punk, Iggy Pop.
Iggy is famous for songs like 'Lust For Life', 'Real Wild Child' and 'The Passenger'. Now he has allowed Orcon to use one of those songs in a marketing campaign.
Two hundred New Zealanders auditioned to be part of it, and Iggy whittled them down to eight. They have now made an internet recording of 'The Passenger' that has been turned into a TV ad.
To test the quality of their broadband, Orcon got Iggy to re-record the song in his Miami studio whilst, using the wonders of the internet, his band would all be in New Zealand.
