Justin Timberlake in In Time

Justin Timberlake in In Time

By Kate Rodger

In Time is written and directed by Andrew Niccol, the Kiwi-born filmmaker behind the excellent ‘90s film Gattaca. His latest effort however is entirely underwhelming.

It’s an intriguing enough premise set in a futuristic world, where we're all genetically modified to stop aging at 25 and drop dead a year later.

The rich can buy more time, in a world where time is money, especially if you want to live longer.

Justin Timberlake takes on an action man lead role here and clocks up a fail on that count, lacking the depth as yet to convince, and serving only to augment the silliness.

The heavy-handed storytelling, and its skeletal superficial delivery lack any authenticity, and my suspension of disbelief collapsed in a heap very early on, until I discovered the only time I was watching was on my own wrist.

One star.
