It is probably no coincidence that director Paul Murphy chose to focus on family relationships in his debut film -Second Hand Wedding - given that he is the son of Geoff Murphy, the creator of Goodbye Pork Pie.

Although there is a bit of a nod to that Kiwi classic in the form of a yellow mini, Ssecond Hand Wedding looks at a troubled mother-daughter relationship.

Ex-"Shorty streeter" Geraldine Brophy teams up with a cast of familiar faces to play a devoted mum trying to get her daughter marrried on the cheap.

Geraldine and co-star Holly Shanahan spoke to Sunrise about the film.
