The red carpet has been rolled out in Invercargill, for the city's first big movie premiere in seven years.
Kiwi comedy Two Little Boys reunites director Robert Sarkies with his younger brother and writer Duncan.
Despite the stormy weather, Southlanders came out to party at tonight's premiere.
There were plenty of mullets proudly on display, a tribute to the film's two best mates, played by Bret McKenzie and Hamish Blake.
“It warms my heart to see them rocking a perm and a mullet, look at that, beautiful,” Blake says.
He says it’s not a lost hairstyle.
“Ah well no, it's found. We found it in Invercargill. Found it everyone, you can call off the search.”
Blake and McKenzie got to channel their inner bogans for Two Little Boys.
Set in 1990s Southland, the film opens with Nige accidentally running over a hitchhiker.
Maaka Pohatu plays the character “Gav”.
“He's a little bit alternative, he's a little bit…he likes being eco and he loves wildlife.”
And the guys sum up the dark kiwi comedy as being like the southern cheese rolls they became a fan of during the shoot.
“[It] appears kind of warm and quite comforting, but in fact there's some onion powder in there that makes you think twice,” McKenzie says.
Two Little Boys opens nationwide next Thursday.
