Swimming with Mike at squad has been proved inspirational to all of us around him. Mike has achieved what most people could never, through pure determination physically and mentally, and always with a huge smile. You're a legend Mike.......you're also an Ironman!

Mike I have only known you since your accident and well into your recovery. Your journey in the last 2 years alone inspires myself and many of your training buddies at swim squad. As your swim coach supporting you at Ironman I was amazed at your 1:01 swim time and watching you compete so strongly throughout the day. You may not realise how deeply you have effected people around you in such a positive way. Your example of persistence and character have inspired others around you. Well done on Saturday and thanks.

Bryce and Lee I hope you ARE recovering! Ha as we have seen mike is a bit of a pro at that, but I hope you guys can let out a sigh of relief, that is untill his next great adventure! Wish I could have been there on so many occassions, from ICU to the finish line though of course my own situation doesnt always allow for that, but I was really proud to be there as a friend of Mike's and the family's on Sunday.

Our son and his friend did the Ironman in taupo too and we know how hard it was for them in time, energy, motivation etc and they didn't have to re-learn to walk, swim etc so your success is just remarkable and a true motivation and inspiration to everyone - well done - you are a legend.
