In many cases, these are what I would call successful drug users. They have used drugs for years or decades without any problems. These aren't the sort of people that we see in the media. These people, in my opinion don't actually have a drug problem any more than a person who has enjoyed a beer or two for years without ever doing anything stupid under the influence of alcohol. I suspect the vast majority of recreational drug users are like this.

I'm double 40 and some and still have no need for street drugs. It's all a matter of mind over matter. Too many fall too easily.

How about reporting a breakdown of what specific drug charges & convictions these people are being saddled with. Are they running P labs? Or growing a small amount of cannabis for self-medicating their own personal ailments? I would suggest it is a case of more and more people being persecuted & criminalised for choosing to self-medicate with their own natural, home-grown cannabis rather than being hostage to Big Pharmaceutical. The over-priced drugs pushed by Big Pharma are often dangerous & toxic, riddled with side-effects, and usually only concerned with managing symptoms - because a cure would cut too deeply into their profit margins. FDA-approved pharmaceuticals kill nearly 270 people each day in the United States alone, and that's according to conservative calculations published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Cannabis has never killed anyone. In fact, science has shown cannabis to kill some cancers. Statistically, people who smoke cannabis develop less lung cancer than people who smoke nothing at all. News about the ability of cannabis to shrink tumors first came to light back in 1974. Researchers at the Medical College of Virginia, funded by the National Institutes of Health to find evidence that cannabis damages the immune system, found instead that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice — lung and breast cancer, and a virus-induced leukemia. The knowledge that cannabis can be used to fight cancer has been suppressed for almost 40 years and as such represents one of the greatest crimes against humanity. Millions of people have died horrible deaths and in many cases families have exhausted their savings on dangerous, toxic and expensive drugs. Now we are beginning to realize that while cannabis has never killed anyone, cannabis prohibition has killed millions. The War on Drugs is actually a War on People, fought on behalf of the corporate interests of the state sponsored pushers, Big Pharmaceutical and Big Alcohol.

NZ has a record of high recreational drug use for several decades. That group in the population is getting older. they are still experimenting with the latest drug fads. That group is also dealing with the tribulations of aging , low energy, deteriorating mental health, joint degeneration, and other assorted health issues. they may be increasing their usage
