Auckland, as we all know, is a shambles. But when it becomes a super city it will be a mean, lean, council machine, worth roughly $28 billion.

Read the words and see them for what they are - "Local government will be required to shed its commercial activity; roads and piped water will be supplied on a fully commercial basis". That means no subsidies whatsoever, no more Eden Park or Mt Smart, Libraries, Theatres, Museums, Art centres, Rubbish disposal, Council housing, Parks or reserves, no local body assistance to any voluntary or Charitable organisations. Airport, Ports and Water sold. C'mon Auclanders wake up! Tell us what other assets will be
under the hammer because you were all too apathetic to respond!

That is why Mr Hide and his party and many of the National party are there...to sell off the country...It was on the cards after the election we would go down this road...Wait until the next election and see what is up for grabs....

Thanks John. Your story has left me mad as hell at Mr Hide and his cronies in the National Party. They didn't even mention the 'super city' during the election campaign, we were blindsided after the votes were in. We were then told that full consultation had taken place when it clearly hadn't been. A Royal commision review was undertaken, and it's findings ignored. Now this silly little man is sitting in front of the nation lying to our faces!

Well done John Campbell and Team for exposing that the real reason behind Supercity is to hock off all it's assets to private buyers. You had Rodney Hide on the ropes completely, so please follow through with this story. I understand Auckland's Local Body assets incl reserves, museums etc is closer to $68 Billion. It'll all be up for grabs if Hide has his way.
