All Blacks utility back Isaia Toeava has signed a two-year deal with Japanese rugby team Canon Eagles.

Toeava, who has played 61 matches for the Blues, has had an injury-interrupted season, and is currently recovering from hip surgery.

He made his All Blacks debut as a 19-year-old against Scotland in 2005, joining the Blues Super Rugby team the following year. He has played 38 Tests for New Zealand.

The Eagles are based in Tokyo, and Toeava follows Blues teammate Jerome Kaino to play in the host nation of the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
