The girls' mother says she will be arrested if she returns to Italy (AAP)

Four sisters have been forced from their Queensland home and sent back to Italy, where a bitter custody dispute between their parents will continue.

The girls were dragged kicking and screaming into police cars last night - the result of a two-year custody battle.

Moments after the first child was taken away, armed police brought out another.

The four girls, aged nine and 15, were heard screaming: “Let me go!” and “Mum I love you, they’re not going to take us to Italy I promise!”.

But Australian police are under orders from the family court that the girls must be deported.

The girls came to Australia on holiday with their mother two years ago and never left. Since then, there has been a bitter custody dispute and, a few months ago, their mother and her family made it public.

A judge found the girls had been “unfairly influenced” by their mother and her family in a very disturbing and very public campaign to keep them in Australia.

He said: “It is important to remember the children’s objections are principally founded in a belief that their mother cannot return with them”.

The girls’ Australian mother said she would be arrested if she returned to Italy, however the judge sought and received an understanding from their Italian father that he would withdraw any criminal complaints against her.

The custody dispute is not over; the girls were returned to Italy under the Hague Convention, which means a hearing will now take place under Italian jurisdiction.

I have no sympathy for the mother. She kidnapped her kids and tried to turn them against their father. Reminds me of the Sean Goldman case. I also am disgusted by those supporting the mother. How would you like it if happened to you? The father let the mother take the girls on vacation. If she had wanted to move back to Australia I am sure the father would have let the girls visit. But this systematic brainwash is disgusting. Just like those supporting this mother.

I have nothing but empathy for the lady, I have a similar story, all I can say is that the law works for the fathers only.who cares what the psychological effects and impact a magistrates decision would have on d poor mother and those children. Be strong, the kids will grow up. There is o such thing as a just system.

While I have sympathy with the girls their mother must realise how her behavior is nothing short of disgusting and all her carrying on and bad mouthing of the father is turning it into a 3 ring public circus. The police were only doing their duty and she is more than likely behind the behaviour of the older girls any mother who encourages their children to carry on like that in my eyes is not a good mother. After all laws of countries are made to carried out and not to be changed. I am sure with proper support, support & mediation a solutions can be reached. We can not always have our own way in everything and as for making such allegations public I find appalling. This could now open the flood gates for other custody battle world wide. How dare she expected to receive legal aid from the Australia government as it now turns out she is claiming to be a fulltime student. I fully support the girls being sent back & now it is up to the mither what she wants to do. I for one would not be in favour of any appeals to help.

Lets get a few FACTS straight here that have not been reported accurately. NEWS and actual PROOF has been published here in AUSTRALIA that the Australian Embassy in Italy and the Government officials in Australia worked together with the Mother to get the girls Passports and One Way ticket to go to Australia and THE FATHER DID give his permission and was also originally going to come after them to look for work but then changed his mind, so despite the LIES they were abducted by the Mother this was NEVER THE Case and it was these LIES which then became the basis of the Case under the Hague Convention. Australia is obliged to keep the Hague Conventions where children are abducted so the JUDGE in question did everything to undermine the mother and her case to oblige the Government and the Hague Convention. So they were never given a chance. BUT these girls were NEVER ABDUCTED!!! So the Hague convention should NEVER HAVE BEEN USED!! There have been lies told by the Government and the Justice department. The Mother was refused legal AID by Australia in her application for assistance while the Father was accorded ALL the Legal Assistance he required! This CASE STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN!!! Yes the mother did wrong encouraging the Girls to stay on but they left Italy aided by the Australian Government because the girls felt the father was abusive and he had refused to give support to the mother for her daughters when she was over there. She, mind you had Court orders to be able to have them during the Week and he only at weekends! So before condemning the mother! KNOW THE FACTS!!!

If you read the full story, it is the mother's behaviour that is DISGUSTING. The mother abducted the children and then sought to alienate them from their father and then use the children in a publicity campaign against their father. If the father had done what the mother did, he would be in jail???

She can return to Italy and be with them. The father said he would not press any charges and they have a custody agreement that will be honored in Italy...the mother knew she was "abducting" them when she came to Australia...she knew he would want his kids back...yet she decided to put her children through this. I have sympathy for the situation, nothing else.

The judge has done the right thing and will sleep tonight! The mother has NOT done the right thing, as she has taken the children to Australia "on a holiday" to never return to Italy. How is this fair for the father? Why should he lose his children. Your impilying that fathers play an insignificant part and shouldn't have any say. Despite the fact that it appears the childrenwant to be with the mother, the reality is, the mother has done the wrong thing by the girls. If my English ex-husband, took my children to the UK for a holiday to see family, but to never return. I too would be very angry, and expect the goverment to step in and bring back the children to their rightful home of residence.

I watched the video and television My words DISGUSTING the Government should be ashamed and the Police the way they manhandled the girls is down right wrong. There is more to this than we have heard and also big reasons for the girls not wanted to go back to their father ...I feel sorry for the mum as she did not feed these kids with lies all she wanted and all the girls wanted was to stay with their mum . and they should have been allowed. Also they were never given the chance to speak ...The 14 and 15 year old are old enough to have to their say for the other two sisters. Think it is just totally the wrong way to treat human beings especially children and teenagers ...sucks suck sucks
