It's a Bitzer

Wed, 09 Sep 2009 12:00a.m.
It's a bitzer update this week. Lots of little things going on, but no major projects signed off to report.

I really put the bargain into bargain bride last Thursday night. I headed to the Briscoes sale in search of a new saucepan, but came away with the centrepieces for our tables, go figure! Having found nothing in the pot department, I wandered over to the candle department, which was displaying a 30% off sign.

There were all sorts of candles and holders on display but my eye was drawn to the marked down and marked down again boxes in the top corner that no one appeared to be interested in.

There was at least 12 sets of candle holders all marked down from $20 to $10 and then had an additional 30% off. So I had a quick look over my shoulder to make sure no one was watching and set about breaking into the box and seeing what the holders actually looked like. They were sets of 3 glass holders, varying in height, and all shaped like little wine glasses (for want of a better description). Whack a tealight in them and ta da! Centrepieces for $7 each!

So I stacked 7 boxes up (literally to my eyeballs) and made my way towards the checkout. A kind young salesman looked at me like I was slightly mad, but opened a checkout for me anyway (I think he feared I might trip and break everything in my vicinity). I did explain that they were for my wedding but I'm not sure that he believed me!

Annnd I'm still trying to find card for the wedding invites, grrr. I thought I had it sussed, having received samples from a local company and tested them out in the printer. That was until I read the small print – the minimum order was $500 if I didn't have a trade account, doh! So back to the drawing board...

Oh and I got the chance to admire my dress again too, as the store I bought it from was exhibiting at the Women's Lifestyle Expo in Wellington and just happened to have my dress on show. I was so excited but couldn't give it away as I was with my sister-in-law and a friend!

I'm still doing well with my exercise and healthy eating, and am seeing some real progress on the scales, yuss!

And last but not least, I ordered the veil that I'd seen on Etsy, so I'm now eagerly awaiting its arrival!
Bargain Bride - Wendy B

I'm a 24 year old Wellingtonian preparing to marry my partner in crime on 30 Jan 2010.  In 2008 we got engaged, bought our first house and had our first child.  Instead of having 2009 off to recover, we're throwing ourselves head-first into wedding planning!  Did I mention we're trying to do it all for under 10K!?
