Jacinda Ardern vs Maggie Barry

Does a member of Parliament have to have a child to talk with meaning about parenting?
Do Aucklanders have the right to comment on dairy farms?
Or poverty in Africa?
These and other seemingly nonsensical questions have been flying around the internet ever since National MP Maggie Barry made a crack about Labour MP Jacinda Ardern in the debating chamber.

if we follow that stupid logic then sex education will soon become practicing the act in class between students . because how can we talk about a thing unless we have done it . another what if we talk about murder do we need to murder to talk about murder . its mind numbingly stupid of course she is a national so ill make allowances on them grounds. Mrs Barry . .i rest my case.

People who say you can't make any decisions regarding parenting if you don't have children are insulting and pathetic. Of course if someone has children they've had child raising experiences that someone who hasnt raised children doesnt. That doesnt make them a good or knowlegable parent. And if they are? Their veiws are worth listening to. And if they're the type of parent who beats their kid for crying or shoves them off to nanna so they can party or just generally doesn't give a s%$t - or if they're just dumb or unintentionally abusive, how does that make them a better advocate for parents rights, than someone who recognises and is passionate about the value of children, but has none of their own? Every single adult WAS once a child you know. And to make the major decisions about parenting, you dont have to have sat up night after night with a crying baby and your eyeballs hanging out. Infact, if you read the child psychology books, many tell us that most of those great experienced parents who chastise non parents for offering a viewpoint, have been doing it wrong, despite all their great experience.

Since when are washed up television presenters qualified to hold a position in government? Barry hasn't said anything sensible since taking office, and I'm not holding my breath for her future.

Both of you get on with getting the country back on track and stop spending our tax money and borrowing more.
As for those on the bottom of the heap you had a chance earlier in life as did I why didn't you take it? instead of standing there with your hands out to the working taxpayers as if its your right to be supported by the rest of us

Following this rule you would suppose then that only Gay MPs can vote or give an opinion on gay marriage then?

@David.I know lots of rich peoiple. None have nannies and they are great parents. Are you saying day care is bad because it is the same as having a nanny so you are way off with your comments. This is not the states.
Until you have children you have no idea the strains and stress they bring. The govts make rules that tell you how to parent in certain ways but give little assistance. Before I had children I used to think "why dont they". Well after having them I know it is just not that easy. They dont come with a manual.

Thats completely funny many richer people have nanies looking after their children and barely see them because of top end jobs.
Are you saying then that these people have no idea how to parent... because that I would agree with.
But having a child doesnt make you a great parent either.
Whether you know right from wrong is the most important thing and having a child doesnt mean you automatically do the right thing as I am sure any children you have could attest to.
