Mr Arora is remaining positive the winner will come to his store

Someone's had a better New Year's than most of us - they just may not know it yet.

An Orewa Lotto store sold a $5.5 million ticket, but they're still waiting for the winner to come forward.

The manager of Orewa's Grand Superette says checking tickets is a little more exciting than usual, but so far, no winner.

"Maybe because of the holiday season I guess, if they are away camping or on holiday," says Harkesh Arora.

The winning prize was made of $5 million from PowerBall, and an additional half million from first division.

The winner could be biding their time or driving down to Wellington to collect their prize in person.

But Mr Arora is remaining positive they'll come to his store.

"I think so, but you never know. If they know its a big one they might or might not, but we hope they do."

He's only had Lotto here three months, and really hopes someone from the community ends up being the winner.

Two other Kiwis won $1 million dollars on Saturday's draw - one in Auckland and one in Christchurch.
