Jaime Ridge is ending her boxing career after winning her first official fight.
The model and aspiring celebrity beat The GC’s Rosanna Arkle in their undercard fight before last night’s clash between Shane Cameron and Monte Barrett, but says it is the last time she’ll don the gloves.
“For now, this will be the last time,” she told One News after being awarded victory by unanimous points decision.
Both fighters attracted criticism heading into the fight, but Ridge believes she and Arkle put on a spectacle.
“It's not like the performance wasn't good. Especially from my point of view I went out there as boxer, dressed as a boxer but there is always going to be critics and they have the right to be like that.”
Ridge’s move follows The Crowd Goes Wild reporter Hayley Holt, who retired after beating surfer Paige Hareb in last year’s Fight For Life charity bout.
“I’m retiring from boxing now, as of today. She got me some good ones in the face, I was scared of the little hurricane,” Holt said after her win.
No word whether Ridge’s former partner Sonny Bill Williams will follow suit and hang up his gloves.
