Glee star Jane Lynch is to voice a new mean character in a guest appearance on The Simpsons.
The actress will play Homer Simpson's assistant who cheats him out of a promotion in an episode due to air next season.
The Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean tells EW.com, "This woman seems terrifically nice, but then it turns out she's just completely undermining him every step of the way and gets his job.
"She (Lynch) can do edge, sweetness, and a mix of both. I'm just embarrassed we didn't ask her before she was so successful because she's funny in everything she does. We were very happy when she said yes."
Lynch's Glee co-stars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Amber Riley have all previously guest-starred in the hit animated show.
