The weather is set to play its part in tonight’s second Tri Nations test between the All Blacks and the Springboks in Wellington.

It has been raining for the best part of the last 18 hours but it isn't particularly cold and it's certainly not one of those stormy old Wellington nights when a southerly blows right up the harbour.

Conditions should be okay for one of the local lads to show off his skills to the hometown fans.

The All Blacks is the first national team Cory Jane has made, but that lack of age grade success never put him off his dream.

“That drove me; I knew that I wanted to be an All Black from a young age, and not making teams, I guess... that just kept pushing me,” he says.

Now, despite playing just 16 tests and starting only 12, Jane would be one of the first names the selectors write down; the little bloke from Upper Hutt playing a big man's game on the wing.

Jane has scored two tries already this year; part of a backline that is flourishing with the improved interpretation of the laws that govern the break down.

It's a return to a style of rugby that puts a smile on Jane's face almost as large as the grin he gets when he talks about his beloved home town – Upper Hutt.

“It's the place to be,” Jane says.

Almost as good as being part of the All Blacks.
