Jay-Z has been confirmed as U2's support act for their one-off Auckland concert in November.

U2 made the announcement on Australian TV this evening. Jay-Z will also join the band for their four Australian shows.

Last time U2 came to New Zealand, they surprised many by bringing along Kanye West, another hip hop star.

Tickets to the concert – which now features arguably both the world's biggest rock band and world's biggest hip hop star – start at only $39.90, and go on sale on September 3.

Jay-Z? I'm (hopefully) going to see U2 because I've always loved their music, and I love rock music in general. But to have a hip hop act to support a rock act? Seems a bit of a clash of genres to me. I guess U2 are trying to expand into the youth market by having Jay-Z. As Lynette mentions above, if Muse had been the support act, I think I would have been camping the ticket office 48 hours before sales started.

Was hoping for Muse or Snow Patrol who have been their support act throughout Europe/USA
