Rapper Jay-Z has refused to turn his new hit 'Run This Town' into a New York Yankees anthem as the baseball team charges towards the World Series.

The hip-hop star was approached by radio producer David Brody to lend his vocals to spoof track 'Yankees Rule This Town', but Jay-Z wasn't interested.

Brody told the New York Daily News, "This song is not false bravado because the Yankees are really good this year. My hope is that he likes the song and will ultimately sing it himself."

However, the producer has revealed he has been shut down by the rapper: "Jay-Z just turned me down."
