On Thursday night, at the KFC Godfather of Fight Nights, Jesse Ryder will re-enter the sporting arena in New Zealand for the first time in over four months.

Not wearing cricket pads, but boxing gloves.

As a cricketer, Jesse Ryder could be one of the greats. His test batting average is 41 - and it’s been higher.

His 201 against India showed a batsman of extraordinary ability - if only he did not keep hitting the booze, and blowing it.

He has stopped drinking. Not for the first time, but this time he reckons he'll stay on the wagon for good.

A new-look Jesse Ryder, fitter than he's been in years, met John Campbell for a cup of coffee, and a chat about the joys of boxing, sobriety, and getting his life in order.

Watch the video to see John Campbell’s interview.
