The use of the crucifix in the image has been slammed by Christian critics

Supermodel Joanna Krupa has stripped again in an effort to make animal lovers think twice before buying a puppy from a pet store.

The stunner who bared all for the December issue of US Playboy magazine, will be exposed for a new PETA Christmas ad campaign.

Krupa appears as a winged angel, covered by a carefully-placed crucifix, in the new billboard.

The Dancing with the Stars regular unveiled the poster outside a Barkworks store in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Krupa says, "We're trying to spread the word that breeding isn't the way to go. Somebody needs to put their foot down and stop this breeding and these puppy mills... It makes me so angry that our government doesn't do anything about it. So I am!"

Critics have slammed the image as "totally inappropriate" and exploitative of Christian symbols.

Deal Hudson of InsideCatholic.com says: "It's another instance of disrespect toward Christianity and another example of the kind of abuse that would never occur with any other major religion, because the outcry would be so immediate and so loud that the people behind it would immediately retreat."

@ carter, its how they are bred in puppymills. these dogs live in tiny cages like factory farmed chickens its cruel, also pure bread dogs have far more health problems than cross breeds. im not anti pure bred dogs just anti puppymills in america

I thought when I first saw the photo that it was a broadsword she was holding. Anyone who finds offense at one religion or another in this pic must be too sensitive to go out in public. The question is, what connection id there between this photo and puppy mills? Most guys will just look at the model and go on - no thought about the dogs.

I'm 70 and find nothing offensive with the photo, at least it is being used to help the helpless.

While I love the picture, I hate the message. Do they think there is no value in purebred dogs? That's ridiculous. It sux that dogs are abandoned, but purebred dogs are worth paying money for.

I think I'll go buy a puppy from a "puppy mill."
