Jonas Brothers

Not only can fans of the Jonas Brothers look forward to the imminent release of their new album, they can now watch the stars in their own TV show.

Kevin, Joe and Nick gave their first live performance of songs from Lines, Vines and Trying Times at a private concert in Hollywood this month, and before going on stage, they sat down to talk about their new projects.

Nick Jonas explained that Lines, Vines and Trying Times was largely inspired by the brothers' own lives.

"It's a record that we made just out of personal experience. Opposed to writing a journal we decided to write this album," he said. "I think that the title kind of has a meaning: 'Lines' something someone is feeding you, lies someone is telling you, 'Vines' are things that are holding you down in life on the path your on. And then the 'Trying Times' are quite obvious that we are in trying times in this world right now, and we are trying to make music that will encourage and inspire people right now."

The LA concert included a performance of their latest track which is being released on May 8.

"'Paranoid' is the first single off the album and we are very happy for everyone to hear it," said Kevin, adding it's one track that doesn't reflect their state of mind.

"It is one of the most general songs actually on the record, we wrote it with a lady named Cathy Dennis and we didn't necessarily pull from personal experience but kind of got the concept idea and ran with it and we kind of put ourselves in the shoes of what you would feel like to be paranoid, and that's what we wrote it about," he added.

And their small screen venture, which began broadcasting this month in North America, offers the brothers the chance to stretch their creativity still further.

"The new TV show is a show called Jonas," said Kevin. " It's about three brothers that are in a band dealing with travelling the world, playing shows but at the same time going to high school and dealing with all the challenges of that and then those two things clashing together. It's pretty great, it's a lot of fun to do, and we have a really great time and it's fun to be in a comedy and do a comedy because you get to laugh all day. It's really nice."

"We're also new actors and we learned a lot on the set and it was a honour to be asked to do some acting," added Nick. "The fact that we were able to combine our music and acting together was a lot of fun."

Lines, Vines and Trying Times is released worldwide on June 16.
