Argentina's Juan Monaco beat home favourite Tommy Haas 7-5 6-4 to win the German Open.
The third seed beat Haas in straight sets to claim his first ATP 500 tournament victory and his third title of 2012.
Despite a positive start by Haas, Monaco broke serve five times to become the first Argentine to win the German Open since Guillermo Coria in 2003.
"I'm very happy, very excited," says Monaco. "It means a lot for me to win a great tournament like this so I'm happy and I have to keep moving forward. This is going to give me a great confidence for the next tournament so I'm really enjoying this moment."
Former world number two was playing his second final of the season. Haas beat Wimbledon champion Roger Federer on grass to lift the Halle title last month.
Monaco will move into the world top 10 for the first time in his career when the latest rankings are next published.
