New Zealand booked their place in the rugby junior world championship final by defeating Wales 30-6 in South Africa on Monday morning (NZT).

The semi-final victory in Cape Town means New Zealand will play for a fifth consecutive title at the annual tournament.

Wales took the early lead in the semi-final with two penalties, but the scores were soon levelled and try to Jimmy Tupou just before half-time put New Zealand ahead 13-6 at the break.

New Zealand upped the pressure in the second-half, with three tries left unanswered by the Welsh.

The win avenges New Zealand's 9-6 defeat in pool play to Wales at Stellenbosch, which ended a run of 21 consecutive wins stretching back to 2008.

New Zealand will face tournament hosts South Africa in the final on June 23 at Newlands, in Cape Town.

South Africa defeated Argentina 35-3 in the other semi-final.
