Several Junior Warriors players are facing disciplinary action after being kicked out of a Sydney Hotel at the weekend.
The Junior Warriors team had just lost to the Roosters ending their NRL season. After the game they went back to the Holiday Inn where they began drinking alcohol, breaking team protocol. About 16 players went back to two rooms at 10.30pm where they continued drinking.
After several requests to keep the noise down by hotel management the players were evicted from the hotel and the police were called.
Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah said “As soon as they were aware they had to check out they did so with no incident.”
“Disciplinary action has been taken against all those involved. That will include fines and other penalties.”
Scurrah refused to name the players involved but said they were all equally culpable.
“We take a very dim view of this, we’ve never had an issue like this before… the team is usually closely managed and their behaviour impeccable.
Warriors management said a broken lamp was the extent of the damage at the hotel, they’d also offered to pay for cleaning and have also offered to pay for the accommodation of other hotel guests who were affected by the noise.
“These are young men who have made a mistake. Obviously we’d prefer if they had waited until they got home away from club business. We’re very disappointed they’ve done this.
