A wealth of technology controls $20 million worth of dinosaur

If you've been passing Auckland's Vector Arena, you could be forgiven for thinking you stumbled on the secret remaking of Jurassic Park, with one key difference – nobody has been killed by the dinosaurs at Vector.

Dominic Rickhards is the man who walks with the dinosaurs, the human star of a show that sold more tickets last year than any other touring dinosaurs, even U2.

In this company, he's small time and proud of it.

“I like the fact I can look up and no one is looking at me,” he says.

Behind the scenes, a wealth of technology controls $20 million worth of dinosaur.

Vanessa Ellis is in charge of dinosaur jaws, and there are 15 in the show.

The New Zealand shows are being touted as the last ever, but Rickhards let it slip the dinosaurs may not be extinct just yet.
