Justin Long is 'Going the Distance' to avoid reading movie reviews from now on - because harsh critics' comments have destroyed his self-confidence.
The actor's romantic comedy with on/off girlfriend Drew Barrymore failed to set the US box office alight when it was released earlier this month - and the couple's performance has been torn apart by reviewers.
He says, "It's the first time I've ever had that level of investment in a movie so it's been strange. It didn't do great at the box office, which has been a little disappointing."
And Long admits harsh comments about the project have left him feeling insecure: "I made a mistake of reading reviews. People always say don't read reviews and I said, 'Ah well, I'll read a couple!' I read literally I think every single review, and I learned a very valuable lesson, which is never, never do that. It doesn't help at all.
"And the good ones, they're nice to hear but I don't really internalise them. It's the bad ones (I remember)."
