3 News Entertainment Reporter and Film3 reviewer Kate Rodger is launching a late night film show for TV3.
Reel Late with Kate will premiere on TV3, Sunday July 25, and will be a review-based film show.
“Getting a locally-made film show for TV3 has been mission of mine for years,” Rodger tells 3news.co.nz.
“Thanks to all the right people coming together at the right time, we’re finally making it happen – and I’m stoked!”
Along with reviewing the latest releases, there will also be extended interviews with the filmmakers of the moment, both international and local.
Rodger travels the globe attending film premieres, awards ceremonies and film festivals. She has interviewed many major stars including Johnny Depp, Matt Damon and Meryl Streep, along with directors including Sir Peter Jackson, George Lucas and Christopher Nolan.
Local content is important to Rodger, who says: “I am really committed to ensuring we have as much coverage as possible for New Zealand filmmakers. We’re an awesome little country doing awesomely big things in the film industry, and the more of our big screen we see on the small screen the better”.
A different special guest reviewer will feature on the show every week – the first will be New Zealand Star Trek actor Karl Urban.
You can follow Rodger and the show on Twitter.
Reel Late with Kate is being presented by Event Cinemas, the major sponsor of the program, with support from local film distributers.
