Keanu Reeves has been cleared of assault and battery after a paparazzo charged him with trying to run her over with his car.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elizabeth A. Grimes ruled that snapper Alison Silva cannot seek punitive damages against the movie hunk, despite claiming Reeves' Porsche struck him in March 2007.

Reeves' attorneys argued in court documents that Silva placed her hand on the actor's car and tripped over, while trying to take candid shots of their client.

On Monday Judge Grimes ruled that Reeves didn't act maliciously.

Silva can still pursue a negligence claim.

The plaintiff claims her wrist was fractured in a fall after coming into contact with Reeves' Porsche. The snapper has reportedly undergone one unsuccessful surgery. Another surgery is scheduled.

In a signed declaration, Reeves said he stopped the car after Silva fell and brought the photographer water. He recounted Silva as saying: "I am a paparazzo. He is a movie star. It was an accident!" according to court documents.
