New age prophecies say the apocalypse is due to take place today, with the 5,125-year long Mayan calendar hitting its end date.
But weather predictor Ken Ring doubts the predictions, and is telling the conspiracy theorists to "get real".
"It's just like the end of one year and the beginning of the next," says Mr Ring, who bases his weather predictions on the Moon. "The world doesn't end every time our year ends, and really something was lost in the interpretation."
He says if world was ending, there would have been signs.
"You'd see it starting to have happened way before now, and I don't think any of it's happening.
"It's going to be a fairly normal day."
In addition to predicting the weather, Mr Ring claims be able to predict earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, based on the orbit of the Moon and planetary alignments.
