Country legend Kenny Rogers is taking his record label executives to court over an alleged breach of contract.
The ‘Gambler’ singer has filed a federal lawsuit in the US District Court of Tennessee against Capitol Records bosses, claiming they have underpaid royalties due to him for music sold as digital downloads and ringtones.
Capitol Records took on Rogers as an artist in 1977, according to The Tennessean.
In the lawsuit, Rogers' lawyers claim label bosses kept royalties due to Rogers for digital songs by classifying them as songs that are "sold" rather than "licensed".
The singer also alleges he was underpaid in excess of US$400,000, due to accounting errors.
The case is scheduled to go to court in May.
