Key called to answer, 'Why are we still there?'

Five New Zealanders have now been killed this month in the Bamiyan province of Afghanistan.

That’s half the total number of New Zealanders who have died in Afghanistan since our personnel first went in there a decade ago.

It's thought the people behind this most recent attack may be running their operation from inside Pakistan.

But it's also thought those who planted the explosive device had crossed over from a neighbouring province, targeting a main road.

When Prime Minister John Key was told the news, the explosion was described as “massive”.

Our military men and women are not there to defend our country, they are there to help those who need it and if needed defend those who can't defend themselves. Soldiers have died, family and friends are hurting, part of grief is blame and the PM is an obvious target, even more so thanks to other politians who are pointing at him, making the hurt and disrespect worse. We should stay until our original pull out date, not run away and whimper that we were leaving early anyway. Why give a Haka if we are going to run away, what's next -'Kia Kaha'(but only if it's safe). I lost Army brothers while over seas, we brought them home, we cried and carried on with the job, we have never forgotten them, never will.

We are there because we have an alliance with other countries to "do out part" not to get into politics around the war. You want the answer - since recorded history people have been warring in the name of religion. My god is right and yours is not. And guess what - their god is right too. Their belief in their religion and equivalents to the Christian bible (All 14 versions - take your pick) means while the UN discuses issues until they are blue in the face others jus war. There is also a hell of a lot of money to be made making killing machines especially in the US so any excuse is a good excuse. There is you answer plain and simple religion and money.
