Aircraft problems which saw Prime Minister John Key stranded in Honolulu on his way to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting have been fixed after a brief delay.

Mr Key left yesterday with a delegation on board the Air Force Boeing 757.

After arrival in Hawaii routine maintenance work uncovered a problem, a spokeswoman for Mr Key said. It was fixed after a couple of hours.

The meeting takes place from November 27 to 29 as the Commonwealth celebrates its 60th anniversary.
