Alleged internet pirate Kim Dotcom will make his theatre debut in Auckland tomorrow night as Santa Claus.
The Megaupload founder, whose home was raided in a joint operation between the New Zealand police and the FBI, plays Santa Dotcom and takes a swipe at Prime Minister John Key.
“I was in my mansion playing Call of Duty, and suddenly I heard someone coming down the chimney, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, not another raid! Who are you trying to impress this time John Key, Steven Spielberg?’” says Dotcom in the play, MegaChristmas.
Dotcom will be joined by a number of other well-known people, including Labour Party MP Jacinda Ardern.
The performance's plot sees Rudolph the reindeer wake up hungover after a North Pole work party just 24 hours before Christmas to find Santa is missing, and with a quest ahead to find him.
Also starring ex-Shortland Street actors Kimberley Crossman and Mick Innes, 3 News entertainment reporter David Farrier and Power Rangers actor Nic Sampson, MegaChristmas runs from December 12-22 at Basement Theatre.
Dotcom is on bail in Coatesville, north of Auckland, awaiting an extradition hearing over copyright charges in the United States, following his arrest in a joint raid between police and the FBI in January.
