Historical novelist Sharon Penman portrays Richard III as a reasonably decent man and a good king in her book The Sunne in Splendour. Her books about the Plantagenets and in particular those revolving around Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine are magnificent works. As Prof Foxhall says it was probbaly the Tudors who went out of their way to villify Richard which for mnost of us is relected in Shakespearean play Richard III
