Former All Blacks winger John Kirwan will coach the Barbarians in three international matches later this year.
Kirwan coached Japan at last year's Rugby World Cup, and also coached Italy for three years from 2002. He takes charge of the invitation Barbarians side for matches against England, Ireland and Wales in late May and early June.
Kirwan, who scored 67 tries in 96 games for New Zealand, says he has strong memories of the Barbarians' most famous win, a 23-11 win over the All Blacks in 1973.
"As a boy I got up in the early hours of the morning to watch the All Blacks against the Barbarians when Gareth Edwards scored that awesome try in 1973," he said in a statement.
"It inspired me to want to be the best and it was my dream as a player to be a Barbarian. So the honour of being invited to coach them will be one I will remember forever."
Among those earmarked for Kirwan's Barbarians team is former All Blacks winger Joe Rokocoko, Barbarians secretary Alan Evans said.
Welsh winger Shane Williams, England flanker Lewis Moody and Wales record cap holder Stephen Jones will also be part of the team.
The Barbarians play England at Twickenham on May 27, Ireland in Gloucester two days later and Wales in Cardiff on June 2.
