New Zealand's Andrea Hewitt pulled away from her rivals on the running leg to win Sunday's Auckland International Triathlon, the final event of the 2011 ITU World Cup series.

Hewitt completed the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-kilometer cycle and 10-kilometer run in 2 hours, 14 minutes; a minute ahead of Japan's Tomoko Sakimoto who beat her compatriot Mariko Adachi by 14 seconds for second place.

After a strong swim, Hewitt raced near the head of the field on the hilly cycle course then ran away from the field in the run around downtown Auckland. The World Cup event is being held in New Zealand for the first time since 2008 and in Auckland for the first time since 1998.
