Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen will start from the front in today’s Sandown 500 V8 Supercar endurance race.

It was a Ford one-two, with Holden’s Garth Tander having to look ahead from third spot at the ‘Giz’ and David Reynolds.

But it wasn’t a stellar day for the series leader Jamie Whincup, spearing straight into a wall and finishing 19th, while second placed Mark Winterbottom – trailing Whincup by just one point – has been forced to drop to the rear of the grid when officials ruled the car had returned to the pit before it had been checked.

Why do we have to wait until 11.40pm to see this race, not to mention a finish time of 3am? Obviously somebody in programming doesn't care about the thoughts of fans. Even Shane van Gisbergen himself has complained on behalf on the fans! What will it take for the programmers to wake up and realise that even fans have to go to work the next morning. I hope this is NOT a preview of what we'll get for the great race, Bathurst!

That's great to hear but would really like to know why TV3 are unable to show the race live as oppose to late night when people like myself got to work early Monday morning, the supercars are the most watched form of Motorsport in NZ yet us petrolheads have to hear on morning radio who won, how do u think rugby fans would react to having to watch the game delayed?

Awesome Driving by SVG! But once again all New Zealand Racing fans are highly disappointed by the television coverage, with even Shane mentioning himself that he is also Disappointed. Any reason why you can show the second leval NZ supertourers on TV live but not a world class race series? Cheers GP

We want to see the race as it happens or delayed coverage at a reasonable time - not in the middle of the night!! It used to be switched to tv4 at 6pm - what happened to that idea????? Wake up programmers, you are letting a hell of a lot of people down.
