J my friend, you DO what you know... and when you know better, you’ll DO better. Let me tell you just one of the many stories that this disaster has etched into our history. On the weekend of the fires, a man named Sam appeared on our morning breakfast show pleading for his wife to call him so he could rest easy knowing they were safe from the fires. He was screaming out his mobile phone number in hysteria and begging for her to call him. You see, he was at work on the Saturday and his wife and 3 kids were at home. One minute things seemed to be fine, the next minute the fire was on their door step. He said the last conversation they had, she said to him “I’ve gotta go… it’s bad…” Unfortunately Sam’s wife and 3 young kids perished in the fires. If being 3-0 does something positive for YOU then fine. They way things are here at the moment, it may get to 6-0 so be prepared to feel GREAT! To the rest of NZ, thanks to the mighty Kiwi’s for sending your recovery team to help us. Thanks also for the amazing dogs you have sent. They are much needed as they will have a big job ahead of them recovering bodies. Like I said J, when you know better… you’ll DO better.

@ J, Neither the time or the place for such comments mate. Whats currently happening in Victoria, Aus would be a nightmare for us here in West Auckland (Waitakere Ranges) which are currently on EXTREME fire risk at the moment, with bugger all resources to contain it should somthing similar happen. But I do know that if it does, we can count on Aussie to support us if needed. Least we can do is support their crews in their time of need. The team currently deployed may be small in number, but are specialists in what they do and can at the least allow their teams to get some rest. I only wish we could send more personel and equipment to assist. Leave the sporting scores comments to an event thats more approprite aye?@ Sal, wishing everyone in the affected areas all the best, and especially to the fire crews from Aus, USA, Canada and NZ. Hope they stay safe.Good luck

To ‘J’, The fires in Victoria, SA, WA and here in NSW all going at the same time is like having all of the North Island NZ being ablaze. Sending your brave men and women over to Victoria to help fight fires and recover DEAD BODIES is no game. All though our two countries have a great sporting rivalry, this is hardly the forum nor the place to be making such insensitive comments. I’d be interested to know what other Kiwi’s would say to your 3-0 chain of thought? Thanks to the rest of New Zealand for all your support. You Kiwi’s are small in country yet GREAT in heart!!!
