Kiwi girl lives her piloting dreams

Four weeks ago John Campbell went to Tauranga to meet a group of people determined to make a difference to the lives of under-privileged kids in their town.

Every night more than 100 volunteers make soup and sandwiches, which they give to children in the city's poorest communities.

As we travelled around we met lots of kids, lots of great Kiwi kids. All were polite. All were grateful. Some were cheeky. Some shy.

But one little girl stood out. She is a girl full of ambition but struggling to break free of socio-economic factors well beyond her control.

Tristram Clayton went back to Tauranga to give her one man's message of hope.

The free market rule should be, when the demand increases, the price would go up. but the formula price didnt, that makes the incefitiency. This is so unfair, I had to put my son on formula when he was 8weeks old, I wanted him to be on the Gold label and did for 3months then there was none left in HALF of chch, I had to make a 30min trip into the damaged side of town just to be able to feed my child and make sure i had enough money to buy several tins as there was no garente that there would be any next time, this is frightening as a parent not knowing if you are able to give your child the formula they require!! something needs to be done about this to protect our babies and give them the best start to life!!
