Glen Levy – better known as “that ninja guy” – is a Kiwi who has been described by National Geographic as the most dangerous man on the planet.
Why? Because his punch, nicknamed The Death Punch, is the most powerful in the world.
The Hollywood stuntman from Thames has appeared in Entourage as Adrian Greer’s stunt double, and Kevin Dillon’s in action movie Poseidon.
“I get to do things that I’ve always wanted to do,” he says.
“Not everyone gets to run along a moving train or jump from one horse to another or swordfight 100 people.
It's crazy fun. It's like being a five-year-old and getting paid for it.”
So how did a boy from Thames get to be one of the most revered martial arts experts in the world?
“Like any great martial artist, I was influenced by Bruce [Lee], and just saw this guy doing these things that didn't seem like they were possible,” he says.
“So, my mental bar had to raise to see if I could start doing some of the stuff that he was doing.”
That inspiration and years of mastering his technique led to the creation of the death punch, and his own show Fight Science on National Geographic.
To put Levy's punch in perspective, Mike Tyson's punch measures 1200 PSI or pounds per square inch.
Levy's hero Bruce Lee's measures 2000 psi.
“Mine’s 12898,” says Levy.
Making his the post powerful punch in the world.
Through his work, and in what seemed like a dream, Levy was recently invited by Bruce Lee's family to be a part of a tribute for the legend.
“The first time I actually got to meet Shannon Lee - who's Bruce's daughter, and she'd come over and said, 'I'm so glad you could make it and thank you so much', it was that moment where part of me wanted to act all professional and the rest of me was giggling like a school girl on the inside!”
With that dream ticked off, Levy's now helping others achieve their dreams. He is in town for a seminar this Saturday on how the code of the ninja can be applied to the lives of all us mere mortals.
