40 jobs are on the line

KiwiRail workers from Lower Hutt will present a petition at Parliament today in a bid to secure their jobs.

The 12,000-signature petition calls for rolling stock to be built in New Zealand rather than bought overseas.

Forty workers at KiwiRail's Dunedin workshop were made redundant last month, and the company has signalled jobs at Lower Hutt may also go.
